In
1986, Kairos was founded by a local group of volunteers bound by the
work of social justice. They privately raised the funds to buy three
houses which theylaboured to renovate and duplex. |

They
chose the name Kairos (pronounced Ky-ross); a Greek word meaning the
present moment as it extends into the future....a place of new beginings. |

With
six units to rent at less than market value, six families on fixed
incomes were able to move into a safe and supportive community where
it was possible to realize dreams in safety, security and with dignity. |

In
1991, Kairos received Ministry of Housing funding for the first time
and acquired three more houses. In total, then and now, we have twelve
families living and growing in our two to four bedroom units. |

In
2000, Kairos became a United Way Agency. Funding provided by the United
Way is used to enhance the employment of an administrator and maintenance
manager on a part-time basis. |
